ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention disclosed herein provides novel 14-de(hydroxymethyl)mycaminosyltylonolide derivatives of Image I wherein R1 is hydrogen atom, -COOR11 or Image R11 is a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by lower alkoxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl or lower alkoxy-lower alkoxy, R12 is lower alkoxy or benzyl, R13 is a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group, and R2 is a hydrogen atom or hydroxyl group, and salts thereof. These compounds are antibiotics having activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, and are also useful as growth promoters in animals.
