ABSTRACT 17a-substituted steroids of the general formula Image (I) in which R1 represents a hydrogen atom; an acyl radical; an alkyl radical optionally interrupted by an oxygen atom; or a cyclopentyl or tetrahydropyranyl group; R2 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, preferably an alkyl radical, having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and X represents an oxygen atom or the grouping H(OR3) in which R3 represents a hydrogen atom; an acyl radical; an alkyl radical optionally interrupted by an oxygen atom; or a cyclopentyl or tetra- hydropyranyl group, exhibit anti-androgenic properties on topical use and can be used for the treatment of acne, seborrhoea, alopecia and hypertrichosis.
