Abstract of the Disclosure Derivatives of 2-(o-carboxyphenylamino)-6H- pyrimido(2,1-b)-quinazolone-6, having the general formula (I) Image wherein R is OH, C1-4 alkyloxyl, or NHR1 in which R1 is H, C1-4 alkyl, phenyl or aralkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are prepared by (a) reacting 2,4-dichloropyrimidine with a compound selected from the group consisting of anthranilic acid, a sodium salt of anthranilic acid, a C1-4 alkyl ester of anthranilic acid or an amide of anthranilic acid in an aqueous or organic reaction medium at a temperature of 90 to 120°C, and maintaining the reaction medium at such tempera- ture for 1 to 4 hours to obtain the desired compound of the formula (I); and (b) optionally converting the compound of formula (I) thus obtained into a pharma- ceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds of the formula (I) are useful as chemotherapeutic antiphlogistic agents.
