Abstract A novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen hetero- cyclic ring compound is provided which is useful as a stabilizer for organic polymers. Organlc polymers containing the novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen heterocyclic ring compound exhibit improved resistance to deterioration induced by light, by heat or by a combination of light and heat. The novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen heterocyclic ring compound is prepared by a novel method comprising the step of reacting 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted 1,2-aliphatic diamine with a monoaldehyde or dialdehyde.
