ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention encompasses novel 2,2-diphenyl-5- (4-substituted-piperidino)-3-trans-pentenenitriles. These compounds are prepared by reacting 5-halo-2,2-diphenyl-3- trans-pentenenitrile with the appropriate 4-substituted piperidine. These compounds are useful anti-diarrheal agents and also possess analgesic activity.
