2-[4-biphenyl-oxymethylene]-anilides have the formula (I), in which the indices and substituents have the following meanings: R, R1, R2 stand for cyano, nitro, halogen, alkyl, alkyl halide, alkoxy, alkoxy halide, alkylthio, alkylthio halide, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, di-alkylaminocarbonyl, alkylcarbonylamino, alkylcarbonyl- (alkylamino), alkenyl, alkenyloxy, alkinyl, alkinyloxy, cycloalkyl or C(Ra)=NORb; Ra, Rb stand for hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl; m equals 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; n equals 0, 1 or 2; R3 equals nitro, cyano, halogen, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkinyloxy or alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, dialkylaminocarbonyl, alkylcarbonylamino, alkylcarbonyl-(alkylamino) or C(Ra)=NORb; o equals 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; R4 stands for hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, alkylcarbonyl or alkoxycarbonyl; X stands for a direct bond or CH2, O or NRc; Rc stands for hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl; R5 stands for alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl and when X stands for NRc it may also stand for hydrogen. Also disclosed are a process and intermediate products for preparing the same and their use.
