A B S T R A C T 2,4-dihalogeno-6-pyridylethanolphenylisopropylamines for shifting the protein-fat ratio of animals in favor of protein, of the formula Image (I) in which Hal are identical or different and represent fluorine, chlorine or bromine, X represents a direct bond or -CH2- and Y represents phenyl, which is substituted by OH, C1-4-alkoxy, C1-4-alkoxy-C1-4-alkoxy, carboxyl, aminocarbonyl, C1-4-alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxy-C1-4- alkoxy, C1-4-alkoxycarbonyl-C1-4-alkoxy or phenyl- C1-C4-alkoxy, or amino-C1-4-alkoxy, or their physiologically tolerated salts.
