ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel monocarboxylic acid esters of 2, 6, 8-trimethyl- 4-nonanol and their process of preparation are described. There also disclosed are lubricating oil compositions comprising hydro- carbon lubricating oil mixed with the novel esters to improve their viscosity and pour point for low temperature operations.
