21489-6205D ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Aminopyrimidines of the formula Va: Image Va wherein Y represents C1-C3 alkyl, C1-C3 haloalkyl, C1-C3 alkoxy, C1-C3 haloalkoxy, C2-C3 alkoxyalkyl, C1-C3 alkylthio, halogen, or the group -NR16 R17; R16 represents hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; R17 represents hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; and R19 represents C1-C3 alkyl or C1-C3 alkoxy, are described, together with processes for their preparation. These compounds find use as intermediates in the preparation of N-arylsulfonyl-N'-pyrimidines of the general formula: Image in which X is a phenyl or naphthyl moiety, and Z is oxygen or sulphur.
