ABSTRACT Novel compounds of thc general formula Image (I) wherein: R represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an alkoxycarbonyl group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms; R1 represents hydrogen, or an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R2, R3, R6 and R7 independently represent hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and R4 and R5 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, or an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms. These compounds exhibit herbicidal properties, and can be used as intermediates in the preparation of certain 2-carboxy-3-azabicylo[3.1.0]hexanes.
