Abstract of the disclosure: The invention relates to new 2-ketosulfonamides of the formula Image and to a process for their preparation, wherein the re- action mixtures obtained by reacting enamines of the formula Image with sulfamoyl halides of the formula Image are hydrolyzed to the 2-ketosulfonamides. The 2-ketosulfonamides of the formula I, according to this invention are precursors for new plant protection agents and pharmaceuticals. These compounds are also analogs of acylacetamides, which in turn are coupling components for azo dyes and pigments.
