Abstract of the disclosure: The invention relates to new 2-ketosulfonamides of the formula Image and to a process for their preparation, wherein the 3-amino- 2-sulfamoylalk-2-enoic acid esters of the formula Image obtained by reacting 3-aminoalk-2-enoic acid esters of the formula Image with amidosulfonyl chlorides of the formula X-S02-NH-R2, are subjected to hydrolysis and decarboxylation. The invention also relates to the 3-amino 2-sulfamoylalk-2-enoic acid esters which can be isolated as intermediates. The 2-ketosulfonamides of the formula (I) are precursors for new plant-protection agents and pharmaceuticals. They are also analogs of acylacetamides, which in turn are useful as coupling components for azo dyes and pigments.
