This invention relates to novel 2-oxo-l-azetidine sulfonic acid derivatives of formula (I) which are of value for use in combination with .beta.-lactam antibiotics to increase their effectiveness against infections caused by .beta.-lactamase producing bacteria. In said formula, (I) R1 is a 5-membered heterocyclic ring esp. thiophene, 2-amino thiazole. R2 is a moiety containing hydroxypyridone or N-hydroxypyridone.

Nouveaux dérivés d'acide 2-oxo-1-azetidine sulfonique de formule (I), qui, utilisés en combinaison avec des beta -lactamines, sont des substances utiles pour augmenter l'efficacité de ces dernières contre les infections causées par les bactéries productrices de beta -lactamase. Dans ladite formule R1 est un noyau hétérocyclique à 5 parties, en particulier thiophène, 2-amino thiazole; R2 est une fraction contenant de l'hydroxypyridone ou du N-hydroxypyridone.
