ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to derivatives of N-substituted-2-aminobenzoic acid of formula Image (I) [wherein A represents a methine group or nitrogen; R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or a fused benzene ring or, when in the 4- or 5-position, -CO-R4 (wherein R4 is hydroxy, amino, hydroxyamino, tetrazol-5-ylamino or alkoxy) or tetrazol-5-yl or cyano; R2 occupies the 4- or the 5-position of the phenyl ring and is -COR4, tetrazol-5-yl, cyano or (when R1 is -COR4, tetrazol-5-yl or cyano) hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or a fused benzene ring; and R3 is hydrogen or acyl] and salts thereof. The compounds exhibit pharmacological properties, and in particular anti-allergic, muscle-relaxing and vasodilatory activities. They may also be useful as intermediates in the preparation of further physiologic- ally active compounds. Processes for the preparation of the compounds and pharmaceutical compositions containing them are described and claimed.
