Abstract Disclosed is a method for producing 2-substituted-4- thiazolidone represented by the following general formula (1): Image (I) wherein R represents methoxy group, ethoxy group, hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, methylenedioxy group or dimethylamino group, and n is an integer of 1 to 3 with a proviso that when n is 2 or 3, R represents methoxy group and/or hydroxyl group, however, the number of hydroxyl group does not exceed one, comprising bringing a compound represented by the following general formula: Image wherein R and n represent the same as in said formula (1), i?to reaction with thioglycolic acidamide. These novel compounds have an anti-peptic ulcer activity.
