ABSTRACT Novel 2-substituted benzimidazole compounds of the formula: Image (I) or, Image (II) wherein R1 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, and R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl with the proviso tht R1 and R2 are not both hydrogen simultaneously and, when R1 is hydrogen, group or a methyl or an isobutyl group on the phenyl group; are useful as anti-inflammatory agents and/or analgesics.
