ABSTRACT In a 3-wire split duplex receptacle there are two feeds. Only the 120 volt supply between the feed and the neutral is utilized. In this invention, the two feeds to each half of the split receptacle is made available for use which supplies 240 volts. The 240 VOLT SPLIT DUPLEX RECEPT- ACLE ADAPTER plugs into the top and bottom receptacle on the split receptacle allowing the 240 volt supply to be used. The ability to utilize this small, lightweight 240 VOLT SPLIT DUPLEX RECEPTACLE ADAPTER in any location which has a split receptacle by simply plugging it in and subsequently plugging the equipment into the adapter would be quick, convenient and inexpensive. Presently, in order to use foreign appliances in Canada, a large, heavy, expensive step-up transformer that supplies 220 volts from a 120 volt receptacle is required. Now, a small step-down transformer plugged into the 240 VOLT SPLIT DUPLEX RECEPTACLE ADAPTER will allow the use of 220 volt foreign appliances easily and efficiently.
