ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A diagnostic agent for the determination of hydrogen peroxide or of substances which react with the formation of hydrogenperoxide or of peroxidase or of peroxidate-active substances, employs the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with a chromogen, which reaction is catalyzed by peroxidase or a peroxidate-active substancas, and evaluation of the coloration producedby the reaction, the diagnostic agent employs, as chromogen, a compound of formula (I):- Image in which R1, R2, R3, and R4, which can be the same or different, are straight-chained or branched alkly radicals containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms; the chromogen employed gives more stable coloured radicals in the test than o-tolidine.
