ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Procedures are provided for preparing new compounds of the general formula (I) Image (I) wherein R1 and R2 each stand for a straight-chained or branched alkyl group containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a 3 to 8 membered cycloalkyl group, a phenyl of a benzyl group, or R1 and R2 together with the adjacent nitro- gen atom may form a 5-to-8- membered heterocyclic group, or a 5-to-8- membered heterocyclic group containing a further oxygen or nitrogen hetero- atom, or a 5-to-8- membered heterocyclic group substituted on the nitrogen heteroatom by an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R3 stand for hydrogen or an alkanoly group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a benzoyl radical, or a benzoyl radical substituted by lower alkoxy radicals; or a pharmaceutically accepted acid addition salt or a pharmaceutically accepta- ble quaternary ammonium salt thereof. The process involves reducing the corresponding structurally similar nitro compounds and optionally acylating the obtained product. The compound of the general formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and pharmaceutically acceptable quaternary ammonium salts are active primarily in the induction of liver microsomal enzyme. They also possess valuable antipyretic activity and a yohimbine lethality-increasing effect characteristic of a anti- department.
