ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a series of 3-(5-aryl-2-furyl)-3- hydroxypropionic acids and ethyl esters of the formula: (I) Image wherein X is 4-chloro, 3,4-dichloro, 4-bromo, 3-chloro, 4-fluoro or hydrogen and k is hydrogen or ethyl and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the acids of formula I with bases which are useful as antiinflamatory agents.
