ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is concerned with new 3,5-dicarboxy dihydropyridine derivatives having the general formula: Image (I) wherein the radicals R1 are the same and each represents a branched- or straight-chain alkyl group containing from 1 to 16 carbon atoms, a butenyl radical, a phenyl radical or a benzyl radical, the radicals R2 are the same and each represents a branched- or straight-chain alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an allyl radical, a propargyl radical, an .omega. -halogenoethyl group, a benzyl radical, a benzyl radical substituted on the ortho- or para-position by a halogen atom or a methyl radical, a cinnamoyl radical, a phenyl radical, a phenyl radical substituted on the para-position by a halogen atom or a methyl radical, a radical of the formula R4-O-(CH2)N-, where n n is 1, 2, 3 or 4 and R4 represents a branched- or straight-chain alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted on the .omega.-position by a halogen atom, or R4 represents a phenyl group, and R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a branched- or straight-chain alkyl group containing from 1 to 7 carbon atoms, with the proviso that when R1 represents a methyl radical and R3 a hydrogen atom, R2 does not represents an alkyl or phenyl radical. The compounds of the invention are useful as stabilizers for vinyl resins.
