ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Certain 3,5-disubstituted-2,4,6-triiodoanilides of polyhydroxy- monobasic acids are useful as x-ray contrast agents. This invention relates to certain 3,5-disubstituted-2,4,6-triiodoanilides of polyhydroxy-monobasic acids in which all hydroxy groups are protected by conversion into ester, acetal or ketal groups. These compounds are useful intermediates in the preparation of the x-ray contrast agents.
