ABSTRACT A process for providing 3-amino-2,3-dihydro-1- benzoxepine compounds corresponding to the general Formula I Image I wherein R1 and R2 may each be hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, or if one of R1 and R2 is hydro- gen, the other may also be nitro or trifluoromethyl, R3 represents hydrogen or a lower alkyl group which optionally may be substituted by hydroxy, lower alkoxy, an optionally substituted phenyl group or an optionally substituted amino group, and R4 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, or R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen atom form a 5 or 6 member heterocycle, by eliminating a molecule of water from a compound corresponding to the Formula II Image II wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 have the above meanings. The compounds exhibit pharmacological, especially anti- depressive, activity.
