An object of the present invention is to offer a novel inhibitor for the production of 3-deoxyglucosone which is an intermediate in Maillard reaction and induces a crosslinking glycation of proteins participating in various diseases. The inhibitor for the production of 3-deoxyglucosone (3-DG) in accordance with the present invention contains at least one of parabanic acid derivatives represented by the following formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as an effective ingredient. (see fig. I) [In the formula, R is hydrogen or lower alkyl; X is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, lower alkylcycloalkyl, phenyl or phenylalkyl which is optionally substituted with lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, nitro and/or halogen; and n is an integer of from 1 to 4.] The compound of the present invention has an action of inhibiting the production of 3-DG which is a highly active intermediate and participates in a protein crosslinked formation in Maillard reaction and, therefore, said compound is useful in the treatment and the prevention of various diseases induced by deposition into tissues or sclerosis or denaturation of crosslinked protein, similar diseases induced by aging and diabetic complications.

Une application de la présente invention est d'offrir un nouvel inhibiteur de la production de 3-désoxyglucosone qui est un intermédiaire de la réaction de Maillard et qui induit une glycosylation de réticulation des protéines intervenant dans diverses maladies. L'inhibiteur de la production de 3-désoxyglucosone (3-DG) de la présente invention contient comme ingrédient actif au moins un dérivé de l'acide parabanique de formule suivante (I) ou des sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables de ce dernier (voir fig. I) [Dans la formule, R est un atome d'hydrogène ou un alkyle inférieur; X est un hydrogène, un alkyle, un cycloalkyle, un alkyle inférieur-cycloalkyle, un phényle ou un phénylalkyle qui est facultativement substitué par un alkyle inférieur, un alcoxy inférieur, un nitro et/ou un halogène; et n est un nombre entier compris entre 1 et 4.] Le composé de la présente invention a pour effet d'inhiber la production de 3-DG qui est un intermédiaire hautement actif intervenant dans la formation d'une protéine réticulée dans la réaction de Maillard et, par conséquent, ledit composé est utile dans le traitement et la prévention de diverses maladies induites par l'accumulation tissulaire, la sclérose ou la dénaturation de protéines réticulées, de maladies semblables causées par le vieillissement et des complications liées au diabète.
