ABSTRACT Novel 3H-naphtho[1,2-d] imidazole derivatives of formula: Image I wherein R stands for (C1-6)alkyl, (C3-6)alkenyl, (C3-6)alkynyl or (C3-?)cyclo- alkyl, R1 and R2, independently represent hydrogen, halogen, (C1-4)alkyl, (C1-4) alkylthio, (C1-4)alkoxy or halo (C1-4) alkoxy and the symbol ? represents an optionally substituted 3- or 6- membered heteroaromatic ring or phenyl radi- cal are disclosed, as well as processes for their preparation, their use as antiinflammatory and antimicrobial agents and pharmaceutical compositions con- taining them.
