ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A new process is described for producing 4,4'- (phenylene diisopropyl)-bis(2,6-dialkyl anilines) of the general formula: Image (I) by converting an appropriate diisopropyl benzene with a corresponding aniline in the presence of a catalytic quantity of aluminum chloride. The 4,4'-(phenylene diisopropyl)-bis(2,6-dialkyl anilines) are used as cross- linking agents for epoxy resins, as chain extending agents for polyurethanes, to produce hydrolysis preservatives for polyurethanes or to produce UV stabilizers for lacquers.
