ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Provided are novel intermediate compounds for the manufacture of anti-hypertensive cyclopentano-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines of the formula Image wherein R and R1 are the same or different lower alkyl groups, R2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, m is an integer from 1 to 2, n is an integer from 1 to 2 and m + n equals 3, and acid addition salts thereof, said intermediates being dialkoxy indanaldehydes having the formula Image wherein R and R1 are the same or different lower alkyl groups.
