Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention provides processes for the production of new tetrahydropyridioe and piperidine derivatives of the general formula I Image (I) wherein R1 represents hydrogen or methyl, and X and Y each represent hydrogen, or, if R1 is methyl, to gether can represent an additional bond and of acid addition salts thereof. These new substances possess valuable pharmacological properties, which characterise them as antidepressants. In particular, they inhibit selectively and reversibly the A-form of monoamine oxidase and antagonise the hypothermal action of reserpine in the rst.
