A method for removing dissolved oxygen from alkaline water containing dissolved oxygen at a temperature greater than 250°F which comprises the step of: adding to said alkaline water containing dissolved oxygen an effective oxygen-scavenging amount of a water-soluble semicarbazide of the formula (see fig. I) wherein R1 and R2 are selected from the group consisting of C1-C10 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, cycloalkyloxy and alkyloxy groups. Preferred materials are 4-phenyl semicarbazide, 4-isopropyl semicarbazide, 4-4-diethyl semicarbazide and carbazoyl morpholine. Below 400°F, a catalyst is also required.
Méthode pour éliminer l'oxygène dissous dans une eau alcaline qui en renferme à une température supérieure à 250 degrés F. La méthode consiste à ajouter à l'eau alcaline renfermant de l'oxygène dissous une quantité efficace de désoxygénant à base d'un semicarbazide hydrosoluble de formule (voir fig. I), où R1 et R2 sont choisis dans le groupe formé des radicaux alkyloxy, cycloalkyloxy, aryle, cycloalkyle et alkyle C1-C10. On privilégie les produits suivants : 4-phénylsemicarbazide, 4-isopropylsemicarbazide, 4-4-diéthylsemicarbazide et carbazoylmorpholine. En dessous de 400 degrés F, il faut en plus un catalyseur.
