The invention discloses 2-(4-alkylthio-pyrimidin-5-yl)-acetic acid derivatives of formula I Image (I) wherein R1 is C1-4alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, or C3-7cycloalkyl, R3 is a radical Image wherein R4 is hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, C1-4haloalkyl, aryl, aryloxy, C3-5alkenyloxy, C3-5alkynyloxy, halogen, cyano, aryl-C1-4alkoxy, aryloxy-C1-4alkyl, heteroaryl, heteroaryloxy, C1-4alkoxy, C1-4alkoxy-C1-4alkoxy, cyano-C1-4alkoxy, C3-5alkenyl, aryloxy-C1-4alkoxy, C3-7cycloalkyl, halo-C3-7cycloalkyl, C3-5alkynyl, C1-4alkoxycarbonyl, -CONR9R10, -O-CONR9R10, or -CR8=N-O-R7 wherein each of the aromatic rings may be optionally substituted; R5 is hydrogen, halogen, C1-4alkoxy or C1-4alkyl, R6 is hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, cyano, nitro or halogen, R7 is C1-4alkyl, C3-5alkenyl, C3-5alkynyl, or aryl-C1-4alkyl, R8 is hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, di-C1-4alkylamino, C1-4haloalkyl, halogen, -77- cyano, C1-4 alkoxycarbonyl, or C3-7 cycloalkyl, R9 and R10 are independently hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl, or together C3-6 alkylene or C3-6 alkylene interrupted by oxygen or sulfur, and X is CH or nitrogen; the use of such compounds for the control of phytopathogens, compositions for facilitating such use, and the preparation of the compounds of formula I.
