ABSTRACT Certain 4-((benzotriizolyl)phenoxy)alkanoic acids, esters and salts of formula Image wherein X is halogen and n is 0, 1 or 2, or n is 1 and X is cyano, methyl, halomethyl, methoxy, halomethoxy, methylthio, halomethylthio, methylsulfinyl, halomethylsulfinyl, methylsulfonyl or halomethylsulfonyl; R is methyl, ethyl or methoxymethyl; and R1 is hydrogen, alkyl of one to four carbon atoms, an alkali metal or ammonium (N(R2 )4)ion, wherein each R2 independently is hydrogen or alkyl of one to six carbon atoms are useful as herbicides.
