Compounds represented by general formula (I) or salts thereof and medicinal compositions containing these compounds as the active ingredient: wherein A represents, for example, phenyl substituted by R1 and R2 or unsubstituted thienyl (wherein R1 and R2 independently represent each hydrogen, halogeno, lower alkoxycarbonyl, etc.); R3 represents, for example, hydrogen; R4 represents, for example, lower alkyl; R5 represents, for example, lower alkoxy; R6 represents, for example, hydrogen; R7 and R8 represent, for example, each hydrogen; X represents, for example, a single bond; Y represents, for example, methylene or benzylidene substituted by R1; and Z represents, for example, methylene. These compounds are useful in preventing and/or treating arrhythmia and preventives for sudden death as drugs which neither inhibit transient sodium current in cardiac muscles nor show any arrhythmia-inducing effect.
