A 4-mercaptophenyl ester of acetic acid useful as a material for the synthesis of color developers, etc.; and a process for producing the ester. The 4- mercaptophenyl ester of acetic acid is represented by the formula (1): [Chemical formula 1] (1) (wherein Ac represents acetyl and R represents C1-4 alkyl). The process, which is for producing the 4-mercaptophenyl ester of acetic acid, is characterized by comprising reducing a 4-halosulfonylphenyl ester of acetic acid represented by the formula (2): [Chemical formula 2] (2) (wherein Ac represents acetyl; R represents C1-4 alkyl; and X represents halogeno).

L'invention concerne un ester 4-mercaptophényle d'acide acétique, utile pour la synthèse de révélateurs de couleurs, etc. ; et un procédé de fabrication de cet ester. L'ester 4-mercaptophényle d'acide acétique est représenté par la formule (1) : [Formule chimique 1] (1) (où Ac représente un groupe acétyle et R représente un groupe alkyle en C1-4).
