ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a 4-(alkoxy-phenyl)-2-pyrroli- done of the general formula I: Image (I) in which the groups represented by R1 and R2 may be the same or different and each is an alkyl group containing up to 5 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group of 5 or 6 carbon atoms and R4 repre- sents a group of the formula -CO-R5, in which R5 represents-O- alkyl, O-aryl, O-aralkyl, NH2, NH-alkyl, NH-aryl, NH aralkyl, N(alkyl)2, N(aryl)2 or Image which have pharmaceutical proper- ties and are generally distinguished by the rapid onset of their action and low acute toxicity.
