ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention as disclosed provides 4- substituted 1-(optionally substituted)-diazolidinones which are compounds of Formula I: Image I wherein: R1 and R2 are a) taken together to form a phthalimido group; or b) either R1 or R2 is hydrogen and the other of R1 or R2 is an amino-protecting group; and R3 is hydrogen or trihaloacetyl; or an acid- addition salt thereof. These compounds are intermediates to 7-substituted bicyclic pyrazolidinone antimicrobials.
