ASTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Thiopyrans of the formula Image in which R is an optionally substituted aryl or heterocyclic radical, R1, R3 and R4 each independently is hydrogen, an achiral alkyl radical, an optionally substituted aryl or heterocyclic radical, or one of R1 and R4 is bridged via a ring with R, R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, carboxyalkyl or amino- alkyl, and X is O, S or NH, are produced by reacting a thione of the formula Image with an acetylene compound of the formula Image The products are effective in controlling disorders of the central nervous system.
