ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The isoquinoline derivative represented by the following general formula (I) is useful as cardiotonics having high cardiotonic activity and low toxicity : Image (I) where R1 represents a lower C1 - C4 alkyl group or cyclopropyl group, R2 represents formyl group, lower C1 - C4 alkanoyl group and benzoyl group, lower C1 - C4 alkyl group, lower C1 - C4 alkenyl group, lower C1 - C4 hydroxy substituted alkyl group, C1 - C4 perfluoroalkyl group and R3 represents 4-pyridyl group or 2-pyridyl group respectively, and therapeutically acceptable salts thereof also useful as cardiotonics.
