The present invention relates to 5-heterocyclo- pyrazoles of the formula I: Image wherein ring W is an optionally fused heterocyclic ring; m is 0, 1, 2 or 3; n is 1, 2 or 3; R1 is H, nitro, cyano, alkyl, substituted sulfonyl, formyl, ketone, or optionally substituted amide; R2 is H, nitro, cyano, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, heterocyclyl, formyl, ketone, ester, substituted amide, substituted amino or alkylthio; each R3 is H, halo, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heterocyclyl, alkoxy, formyl, ketone, carboxy, ester, optionally substituted amide, optionally substituted amino, thiol, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl or alkylsulfonyl; R4 is optionally substituted alkyl; and R5 is H, halo, hydroxy, ketone, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cyana, formyl, ester, ketone, carboxy, substituted amide, optionally substituted amino or alkylthio. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing compounds of formula I and to their medicinal use. The compounds of the invention are useful in the treatment or alleviation of inflammation and other inflammation associated disorders, such as arthritis, colon cancer and Alzheimer's disease in mammals, preferably humans, dogs, cats and livestock animals.
