Title: 5-PYRIMIDINECARBOXAMIDES AND TREATMENT OF LEUKEMIA AND TUMORS THEREWITH ABSTRACT Novel 5-pyrimidinecarboxamides useful for regressing or inhibiting the growth of leukemia. The compounds have the formula: Image wherein R1 is an alkoxy group having from one to four carbon atoms; and R2 is hydrogen or a carbohydrate residue selected from the group consisting of furanosyl, pyranosyl, glucopyranosyl or galactopyranosyl groups, their deoxy derivatives, and hydroxy- alkoxyalkyl and polyhydroxyalkyl groups having from 2-12 carbon atoms in each of the alkoxy and alkyl moieties thereof; and the pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts thereof.
