The invention relates to a dyeing composition which is used to dye keratinous fibres and which contains at least one oxidation base and at least one 6-alkoxy-2,3-diaminopyridine-type coupler in which the position 2 amino radical is a monosubstituted amino radical. The invention also relates to the use of the inventive composition for the dyeing of keratinous fibres and to the dyeing method which employs said composition. The invention further relates to novel 6-alkoxy-2,3-diaminopyridine compounds which are used as couplers.
