Abstract of the Disclosure Novel fortimicin derivatives having antibiotic activity represented by the formula Image wherein R1 is loweralkyl, R2 is hydrogen or loweralkyl and R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, acyl, hydroxyacyl, aminoacyl, N-monoloweralkylaminoacyl, N,N-di loweralkylaminoacyl, hydroxy-substituted aminoacyl or an aminoacid residue, loweralkyl, hydroxyloweralkyl, aminolower- alkyl, N-monoloweralkylaminoloweralkyl, N,N-diloweralkyl- aminoloweralkyl or hydroxy-substituted aminoloweralkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, inter- mediates useful in their preparation, compositions employing the compounds and methods of using the compounds.
