Abstract This invention relates to 6-styrylpyrazolo[3.4-d]- pyrimidin-4-ones of the general formula Image wherein R1 is lower alkyl, cyclo-lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkyl; R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl and R3 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, halogen or trifluoromethyl and the 6-styrylpyrazolo[3,4-d-]- pyrimidines which are derived from them, having the general formula Image wherein R1, R2 and R3 are defined above and R4 and R5 each is hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy-lower alkyl, di-lower alkylamino- lower alkyl or together with the nitrogen are morpholino, pipera- zino or lower alkyl-piperazino, and acid addition salts of the basic members and processes for preparing these compounds which are useful as antimicrobial agents and also have antiinflammatory and membrane stabilizing properties.
