ABSTRACT New compounds having the formula Image wherein the dotted line is an optional double bond. These com- pounds are useful as cardiovascular agents. They are also use- ful as intermediates in the preparation of compounds of the formula Image wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R2 is -CHO, -CH2OH or -CH=CH-R3-lower alkylene-CH3; R3 is keto or hydroxymethyl; and the dotted line is an optional double bond, which are themselves useful as cardiovascular agents.
