ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed are 7-(Oxoalkyl)-1,3-dialkyl Xanthines corresponding to the general formula: Image (I) in which R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, each represent a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical with 3 or 4 carbon atoms, and A represents a straight-chain alkyl radical of up to 4 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by a methyl group; and processes for the preparation of these compounds. The compounds have been found to be particularly effective as non-toxic vasodilators.
