A backpack which provides improved freedom of shoulder movement. The backpack consists of a sack or carrying portion having a main shoulder strap attached thereto at an upper edge thereof and extending diagonally to a lower edge on the opposite side. The sack or carrying portion has a diagonal edge extending from the upper edge substantially parallel to the main strap. Along the diagonal portion there is attached an auxiliary shoulder strap which is attached to an auxiliary strap which extend diagonally to a lower point on the sack or carrying portion on the opposite side. A slide member is adapted to detachably fasten the main shoulder strap and the stabilizing strap and/or auxiliary shoulder strap at the point at which they cross one another.

Sac à dos offrant une liberté de mouvement accrue au niveau des épaules. Le sac en dos est constitué d'un sac ou enveloppe de transport avec bretelle reliant la partie supérieure à la partie inférieure du du côté opposé du sac. Le sac ou enveloppe de transport comporte un bord diagonal allant du bord supérieur et prolongé parallèlement à la courroie principale. Une bretelle auxiliaire relie un point de la portion diagonale du sac à un point d'attache situé à la partie inférieure et opposée du sac. Un élément coulissant amovible permet de relier la bretelle principale à la bretelle auxiliaire en un point où l'une et l'autre bretelles viennent à se croiser.
