The invention relates to a method for determining .gamma.-secretase activity, to individual components of the method and the application of the method. The invention provides a novel method for determining .gamma.-secretase activity and for detecting .gamma.-secretase; particular embodiments of the method relate to methods for identifying a .gamma.-secretase or a cDNA which codes for a .gamma.-secretase and methods for identifying substances which can inhibit the activity of a .gamma.-secretase. Substances of this type are particularly significant since they can be used, e.g. as pharmaceutical active agents, e.g. for treating Alzheimer's disease.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer l'activité de la .gamma.-sécrétase, des constituants individuels du procédé et l'utilisation dudit procédé. L'invention vise à mettre au point un nouveau procédé pour déterminer l'activité de la .gamma.-sécrétase et pour mettre en évidence la présence de la .gamma.-sécrétase; des variantes particulières dudit procédé concernent d'une part des procédés visant à identifier une .gamma.-sécrétase ou un ADNc, codant une .gamma.-sécrétase et d'autre part des procédés visant à identifier des substances aptes à inhiber l'activité d'une .gamma.-sécrétase. De telles substances prennent une importance certaine, du fait qu'elles peuvent s'utiliser par ex. comme principes actifs pharmaceutiques, par ex. pour traiter la maladie d'Alzheimer.
