A cable-stay retractable skylight roof and method of constructing the same wherein a large clear span is built over an existing or new athletic stadium or arena (20) or other structure. The principal feature of the roof structure is that it is supported by Cable-Stays (40) to towers (22) standing outside of the stadium and places no vertical weight on the existing stadium (20). The structure includes a beam framework (38) and roof covering (50) installed over the framework. The covering is fabricated of a clear skylight material to allow sufficient light transmission to permit a natural grass playing field and retracts open to create an open air stadium.
La présente invention concerne toit haubané repliable pour éclairage zénithal ainsi que le procédé de construction correspondant. L'invention permet d'installer une grande surface transparente au-dessus d'un stade d'athlétisme, d'une enceinte sportive ou d'une autre structure, de construction ancienne ou neuve. La principale caractéristique de la structure du toit est qu'il est suspendu par des haubans à des pylônes situés à l'extérieur du stade et qu'il n'exerce aucune pesée sur le stade existant. La structure inclut un réseau de poutres et des couvertures de toiture installées sur le réseau de poutres. La couverture de toiture, qui est fabriquée dans un matériau transparent pour éclairage zénithal, est suffisamment transparente pour permettre l'existence d'un terrain de jeu en gazon naturel, et s'ouvre en se repliant, dégageant un stade en plein air.
