The invention is a cargo compartment for a lighter-than-air vehicle (10), the vehicle having a longitudinal (12), vertical (14) and lateral axis (16). In detail, the cargo compartment includes a cargo carrying structure (20) mounted to the bottom of the vehicle (28), the structure extending along at least a portion of the longitudinal axis (12) of the vehicle and having a plurality of passageways (40A-E7) extending along the longitudinal axis (12) of the vehicle. Each of the passageways (40A-F) is aligned with the lateral axis (16) of the vehicle and extend completely through the structure, and is adapted to simultaneously unload cargo (34) from one end (42) and load cargo from the opposite end (44). A cargo moving system (50, 52) is mounted in the floor (46) of each passageway (40A-F) for moving the cargo (34) in one end (42) and out the opposite end (44) of the passageway and intermediate positions therebetween. A cargo securing system (60, 66) is mounted on the floor (46) of the passageway for releasable securing the cargo within the passageway at the intermediate positions.

L'invention concerne une soute de dirigeable (10), lequel présente des axes longitudinal (12), vertical (14) et latéral (16). Cette soute comprend une structure (20) porte-cargaison montée au bas du véhicule (28), s'étendant au moins le long d'une partie de l'axe longitudinal (12) de ce véhicule et présentant plusieurs passages (40A-F) répartis le long de cet axe. Chaque passage (40A-F) est parallèle à l'axe latéral (16) du véhicule, en traverse la structure et est conçu pour le déchargement d'une cargaison (34) depuis une de ses extrémités (42) et le chargement simultané d'une autre cargaison par l'extrémité opposée (44). Un système (50, 52) de déplacement de cargaison est monté sur le plancher (46) de chaque passage (40A-F) pour faire entrer la cargaison (34) par une extrémité (42) et la faire sortir par l'extrémité opposée (44) d'un passage en passant par des positions intermédiaires. Un système de fixation (60, 66) de cargaison est monté sur le plancher (46) du passage pour assujettir la cargaison de façon libérable aux positions intermédiaires de ce passage.
