A cerium based particle composition comprises: 50-90% by weight of cerium oxide, and at least 10% by weight of lanthanum oxide. The method to prepare the particle composition comprises: one or more water soluble salts of transition metal elements and/or alkaline metal elements are mixed with CeLaC13 solution; the mixed solution is precipitated with carbonate(s) and/or hydroxide(s) to obtain rare earth carbonate(s) doped by said one or more transition metal elements and/or alkaline metal elements; the carbonate(s) is calcined and crushed to obtain the said particle composition. The said composition can be mixed with water, optionally at the presence of additive(s), in order to obtain an abrasive for polishing glass for liquid crystal display and hard recording medium, particularly in the use of polishing glass substrate industry.
L'invention porte sur une composition particulaire à base de cérium comprenant : 50-90 % en poids d'oxyde de cérium et au moins 10 % en poids d'oxyde de lanthane. Le procédé pour préparer la composition particulaire comprend : le mélange d'un ou plusieurs sels hydrosolubles d'éléments métaux de transition et/ou d'éléments métaux alcalins avec une solution de CeLaCl3 ; la précipitation de la solution mélangée avec un ou plusieurs carbonates et/ou hydroxydes pour obtenir un ou plusieurs carbonates de terre rare dopés par ledit ou lesdits éléments métaux de transition et/ou éléments métaux alcalins ; la calcination et le broyage du ou des carbonates pour obtenir ladite composition particulaire. Ladite composition peut être mélangée avec de l'eau, éventuellement en présence d'un ou plusieurs additifs, afin d'obtenir un abrasif pour le polissage de verre pour afficheur à cristaux liquides et support d'enregistrement dur, en particulier dans l'utilisation de l'industrie du polissage de substrats en verre.
