A circuit arrangement is provided for connecting a personal computer (PC) to a port of a key telephone system via an adapter circuit which also interfaces a digital key set to the port. The adapter circuit is connected to the computer via an RS-232 single channel data link. The PC is programmed to generate and receive a serial data stream into which are encapsulated messages relating to link control and telephone functionality. The adapter circuit is also programmed to receive and generate the serial data stream. The data rate through the adapter circuit and the telephone system and hence to a remote computer is dependent on the utilization of the attached key set by the user to make a call.

Montage de circuit permettant de connecter un ordinateur personnel (PC) à un port d'un système téléphonique à poussoirs au moyen d'un circuit adaptateur qui en outre interface au port un poste numérique à poussoirs. Le circuit adaptateur est connecté à l'ordinateur au moyen d'une liaison de données monocanal RS-232. Le PC est programmé pour générer et recevoir un train de données série contenant des messages relatifs à la commande de liaison et à la fonctionnalité téléphonique. En outre, le circuit adaptateur est programmé pour recevoir et générer le train de données série. L'établissement de l'appel au moyen du poste à poussoirs raccordé détermine le débit des données transmises à un ordinateur éloigné par le circuit adaptateur et le système téléphonique.
